Musicians and festivalgoers alike have been shocked by news that the Byron Bay Bluesfest will have its last iteration in 2025, which was announced on their official Instagram page yesterday.
The account has since been flooded with support, with artists expressing that they will “mourn” the festival, hailing it as a “career highlight” to play, and that they had “some of their most memorable moments onstage and off”.
The news has also sparked a conversation about funding and support for Australian music, with comments urging the decision to be reconsidered. For now, Festival Director Peter Noble encourages audiences to come together and celebrate the incredible experiences made over the past 35 years.
